The Israeli military struck the Zainab al-Wazir school, which had been converted into a shelter, killing at least eight individuals. Among the victims were two women and two children, according to local reports.
In the central Gaza Strip, Israeli artillery targeted the Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps, resulting in several casualties. Wafa news agency reported that two bodies and several wounded individuals were transferred to al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat following the attacks.
Wafa also noted heavy overnight shelling in northwestern areas of Gaza City, causing widespread destruction and casualties.
In a related incident, the Palestinian channel Al Quds Today confirmed that an ambulance officer, Hassan Al-Kahlout, from the Jabalia refugee camp, succumbed to injuries sustained in Israeli bombardment. His death adds to the rising toll of medical personnel caught in the ongoing conflict.
Amid the escalating violence, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dispatched senior negotiators, including the chiefs of Mossad and Shin Bet, to Qatar. This delegation will be made up of the heads of Israel’s Mossad, that’s the external security agency, and the Shin Bet, the internal security agency, as well as a representative from the Israeli military.
It’s worth mentioning that the last time that all three were dispatched together for talks was last year, in August 2024.
But the Israelis say they still have heavy sticking points. They say that even if a ceasefire deal is reached, they are going to continue until they achieve all of the objectives of the war.
Hamas says they are only going to agree to a deal if the war ends and there is a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops.
And the Israeli public has been protesting for more than a year, against Netanyahu, against his government, saying that they are neither capable nor willing to get a deal, more than 15 months since Israel’s war on Gaza began.
Health officials in the area report that since the Israeli genocidal war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, at least 46,537 Palestinians have died and 109,571 have been wounded.
