Speaking on Thursday during a visit to the Southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, Pezeshkian said Washington and certain European countries have always adopted hypocritical measures as bombs manufactured at their factories are killing women and minors worldwide.

“You are a party which kills women and children with bombs. Shame on you!,” he stated.

Criticizing the US and Europe, Pezeshkian declared, “The same countries that preach human rights remain silent when women, children, and the elderly are massacred in Gaza and Palestine. Are they truly human? Do they care about human rights? I do not believe so.”

“I cannot believe that those issuing resolutions and statements against the Iranian nation are genuinely defending the rights of people or humanity. Shame on the human rights that you defend," the president added.

In response to the political and hostile behavior of European countries toward Iran, he stated, “We have repeatedly declared that we hold no hostility toward any country and seek to expand our relations with the world. However, we will certainly not succumb to pressure; ‘We neither impose our will on others nor accept coercion from anyone’.”

His remarks came after the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution tabled by Canada and supported by the West, accusing Iran of a “violation of its international obligations" and claiming that “respect for human rights” had deteriorated in the country.

The draft resolution, approved by a vote of 77 in favor, 28 against as well as 66 abstentions on Wednesday.

Tehran censured as politically-motivated and unjustified the adoption of the resolution over alleged human rights violations.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei condemned the resolution as a “hypocritical act and a clear example of using human rights as a tool for achieving illegitimate political goals".

He said the anti-Iran move by a number of other Western countries, which themselves violate human rights and are complicit in the Israeli regime’s crimes and the genocide of the Palestinian people, is a "complete manifestation of their duplicitous act".

The spokesperson noted that the resolution clearly undermines the noble concept of human rights as a tool for exerting political pressure on independent nations, adding, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will spare no action to protect and promote human rights.”

Pointing to the Zionist regime’s co-sponsorship in drafting and approving the resolution, Baqaei decried the move as a "grave political and moral scandal” for the West which is trying to “devalue the noble concept of human rights and render international institutions devoid” of it.

“As a democratic system, the Islamic Republic of Iran obliges itself to safeguard and promote human rights and fulfill its international obligations based on the principles enshrined in the [country’s] Constitution," he stressed.
