Iran: Trump
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Tehran will judge the new US government on the basis of its policies and attitudes after Trump won the presidential election on Wednesday.

Trump's victory is an opportunity for the United States to revise its "wrong policies" in the past, he added.

"We have very bitter experiences with the policies and approaches of different US governments in the past,” the spokesperson noted.
Baqaei reiterated Tehran's earlier position that the results of the US election are of no consequence to Iran.

"The choice of the American president is the responsibility of the people of that country, and now the American people have made their choice," he said, adding, "What is important for Iran is the performance of the American government as the evaluation criterion."

On Wednesday, Iran’s Government Spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani also told reporters that Tehran does not see any difference between Trump and his Democratic rival Kamala Harris.

"The election of the US president has nothing to do with us. The general policies of the US and Iran are constant," she said.

"It doesn't matter who becomes the president in the United States because all the necessary planning has been made in advance," Mohajerani added, explaining that Iran is prepared to deal with any new sanctions.

"Basically, we do not see any difference between these two people [Trump and Harris]. Sanctions have strengthened Iran's internal power and we have the power to deal with new sanctions,” she further explained.

FM: US Presidential Election Not Important to Iran

Trump, who is set to return to the White House in January after defeating Harris in the election, had pursued a “maximum pressure” strategy on Tehran during his first term. Although, Iranian officials have stressed the failure of Washington's policy against Tehran.

Tehran has repeatedly called on Washington to give up its sanction habit, and underscored that the US sanctions have targeted the ordinary people. They blast Washington's addiction to sanctions, and blame President Joe Biden for continuing his predecessor's policy on Tehran.

Iranian authorities have on numerous occasions censured the decades-long unilateral US sanctions as a crime against humanity since they severely undermine the basic rights of the entire nation.
