Israeli airstrikes have claimed the lives of at least 88 Palestinians in the past day across Gaza, according to local reports. The bombardment, which has intensified over the past three days, has left over 200 Palestinians dead, with civilians, particularly women and children, being the majority of those killed.
Early this morning, a Palestinian was killed in an Israeli drone strike on the Rafah refugee camp’s Shaboura area in southern Gaza, Wafa News Agency reported. The identity of the victim remains undisclosed.
In the northern Rafah area, another Israeli drone attack resulted in the death of a Palestinian, as reported by Al Jazeera Arabic. Additionally, Israeli military forces struck residential areas in Gaza City and Deir el-Balah overnight, causing numerous casualties.
The continued air raids also led to the death of journalist Mohammad Hijazi in northern Gaza, as reported by Wafa.
Civil Defense teams have recovered more bodies, including one from the Musabbeh area, also in southern Gaza. In the Qizan Rashwan region south of Khan Younis, an Israeli airstrike near a market site further added to the toll.
Overnight, a strike on a tent site in Deir el-Balah left three more people dead. In northwest Gaza City, a family remains trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building, with at least 15 members feared dead. Only four bodies have been recovered so far.
The toll of civilian casualties continues to rise, as attacks on residential buildings, street gatherings, and marketplaces have intensified. Yesterday, more than 60 Palestinians were killed, with a significant proportion being women and children, despite Israeli claims of targeting Hamas operatives.
An attack in Bureij refugee camp targeted a group of people outside a UNRWA school, killing four and injuring many others. Hospitals in Gaza, overwhelmed with casualties, have struggled to provide adequate care, with severe burns and a lack of medical supplies leading to silent deaths.
Since the onset of the Israeli onslaught on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed at least 45,805 Palestinians and injured over 109,000, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.
