Hundreds Protest in Seattle Following Turkish American Activist’s Killing in West Bank

Hundreds of demonstrators convened at Westlake Park in Seattle to honor the 26-year-old Turkish American activist killed by Israeli forces during a protest against illegal settlement expansion in Beita, near Nablus, in the occupied West Bank.

The demonstration featured protesters chanting against Israel and holding signs that read, "Aysenur Eygi Martyred For Palestine Rest in Power," "Justice 4 Aysenur," "Today We Are All Aysenur," and "Resistance Is Not Terrorism! Free Palestine!"

Nablus Governor Ghassan Daghlas confirmed on Saturday that an autopsy revealed Eygi was killed by a sniper’s bullet to the head.

Eygi was known for her active involvement in solidarity movements supporting Palestinian rights, and her death has sparked outrage and demands for accountability from both local and international communities.

Born in Antalya, Turkey in 1998, Eygi moved with her parents to Seattle, Washington, before her first birthday. She recently graduated from the University of Washington, where she studied psychology and Middle Eastern languages and cultures.
