Islam Times - Reports from the CIA - U.S Central Intelligence Services - estimated that if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was to run for presidential elections he would get elected with 75% of votes, a clear majority.
Syria next presidential elections are set to take place in 2014.
The CIA which has been gathering files and reports on Syria established that unless a serious candidate was to challenge President Assad for the presidency, the latter would get re-elected.
The CIA also believes that Syria's military superiority on the ground will continue to generate broad popular support. "Support will continue until the next presidential elections," read a report.
