Tucker Carlson Claims US Tried to Assassinate Putin under Biden’s Watch

Islam Times - Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has alleged that the Biden administration attempted to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Carlson, a political commentator, made the controversial assertion on his social media program, The Tucker Carlson Show, during an episode featuring journalist Matt Taibbi. Reflecting on US-Russia relations, Carlson alleged that the Biden administration, under the influence of then-Secretary of State Tony Blinken, plotted to kill Putin.
“Tony Blinken was pushing so hard for a real war, trying to kill Putin, for example—which the Biden administration did, they tried to kill Putin. Yes, they did. Which is insane,” Carlson said in his most recent episode, hosted on social media platform X, offering no supporting evidence.
He further speculated on the potential fallout had the alleged plot succeeded: “If like (Putin was assassinated)… okay, so who takes over Russia? And what happens to the nuclear arsenal in a country that’s, like, so complex outsiders can’t even understand? It is demented that you would even think of something like that.”
The remarks quickly gained traction in Russian media. Pro-Putin commentator Sergei Mardan amplified the claims on state platforms, asserting, “The Biden administration planned to kill Putin. That’s what Tucker Carlson says… Blinken, as described by Carlson, essentially concentrated control of the administration in his hands under the feeble president.”
Mardan, echoing Kremlin narratives, suggested more revelations about US policies under Biden could emerge, alleging Blinken had demonstrated a readiness for escalatory conflict, even at high costs.
In February 2024, Carlson conducted a sit-down interview with Putin, during which the Russian president alleged that the US government was controlled by the CIA rather than elected officials. He also blamed the West for prolonging the war in Ukraine.
Carlson followed up the discussion with an interview of Russia’s veteran Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in December 2024. Lavrov criticized the West’s support for Ukraine, warning that actions such as allowing Kiev to use US long-range missiles were dangerously escalating tensions.
“The Ukrainians would not be able to do what they’re doing… without direct participation of the American servicemen. And this is dangerous, no doubt about this,” Lavrov claimed, emphasizing that Russia viewed the Western attitude toward its “red lines” as a significant misstep.
Lavrov highlighted Russia’s deployment of the hypersonic Oreshnik missile as a warning to Western nations. “The message… is that we will be ready to do anything to defend our legitimate interests. Since some people in Washington, London, and Brussels seem not very capable to understand, we will send additional messages if they don’t draw necessary conclusions,” he said.
Lavrov shared views on Donald Trump, describing him as “a very strong person… who wants results” but dismissed claims of Trump being “pro-Russian”. Lavrov highlighted the substantial sanctions imposed during Trump’s presidency, noting, “The amount of sanctions we received under him was very, very big.”
He concluded by expressing cautious optimism about potential US-Russia relations under Trump, should he return to office. “The ball… is on their side,” Lavrov remarked, echoing Putin’s earlier statements.
