Islam Times - Irish President Condemns World Silence Over Killing Gazans

Islam Times - Irish President Michael D. Higgins made special mention of the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and other war zones around the world in his speech yesterday evening.

Gaza has now become a crucible of suffering for children and their families.

There have been 45,000 deaths, including 17,000 children, with perhaps 11,000 more trapped under the rubble.

He condemned the global silence surrounding the killing of civilians, stating, “The silence of many influential figures in the face of gross human rights violations against civilians grants impunity to those who blatantly impose collective punishments, including starvation, particularly affecting women and children.”

Currently, Ireland and Israel are engaged in a diplomatic dispute over Ireland’s support for the Palestinians, which has resulted in Israel closing its embassy in Dublin.
