Israeli news outlets announced Sunday that the Israeli forces have commenced ground operations in southern Syria, coinciding with the reported fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government to opposition forces.
According to Uninews, Israeli armored vehicles have entered Quneitra in the Golan region of Syria.
The Israeli army radio reported the establishment of roadblocks across routes in the Golan Heights and the monitoring of movements within the area.
Additionally, the national Israeli radio claimed that the military is digging deep trenches along the border and ceasefire lines with Syria, aiming to fortify its positions.
Some Israeli media outlets suggested plans for airstrikes targeting military facilities and so-called chemical weapons sites in western Syria to prevent these assets from falling into rebel hands.
Meanwhile, reports emerged of Israeli airstrikes near Quneitra in southern Syria, with claims that weapons depots in the occupied Golan were hit.
