"The next German government must seriously consider fixing and reactivating at least the part that remains unscathed," she remarked in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung newspaper, TASS reported.

Wagenknecht underscored that the pipeline explosions were "a devastating blow to the (German) economy and an act of sabotage targeting German and European infrastructure."

"Rising energy prices are among the leading causes of the ongoing economic crisis, which has threatened tens of thousands of industrial jobs," she stated.

The lawmaker stressed that the next Bundestag should establish a special committee to investigate the sabotage of Nord Stream, as the German Attorney General's Office has not adequately fulfilled its role in this matter.

On September 27, 2022, Nord Stream AG reported unprecedented damage that occurred the day before across three strings of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 offshore gas pipelines. On September 26, 2022, Swedish seismologists detected two explosions along the pipeline routes.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office later initiated a criminal investigation on charges of international terrorism. US investigative journalist Seymour Hersh published an article, which alleged, citing sources, that US Navy divers had planted explosive devices beneath the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in June 2022, with the assistance of Norwegian experts.
