Islam Times - A European human rights organization has detailed documents of severe human rights abuses committed by Israeli forces in northern Gaza, including mass killings, forced displacement, and denial of essential aid during ongoing military operations.
The Geneva-based Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor released a report on Monday, accusing the Israeli military of direct killings, extrajudicial executions, starvation, and ethnic cleansing during its operations in northern Gaza over the past 43 days.
The report highlighted that civilians were killed in bombed homes, displaced individuals were targeted in shelters, and public gatherings and vehicles were attacked. The organization described these acts as part of an intensified military offensive.
The rights body called the forced displacement of civilians “the largest campaign of its kind in modern history,” with thousands uprooted from their homes. These actions, it said, are intended to "terrorize civilians."
In Beit Lahia, a resident, Tamam Abdel Maqadmeh, recounted harrowing experiences of Israeli forces storming homes and executing civilians. “When we descended to the ground floor (on the forces' orders), I found my brother-in-law Khaled lying dead with two gunshots to his abdomen,” he said. His eldest son had also been killed. “They executed them in front of me,” Maqadmeh’s sister sobbed, describing how children witnessed their father and brother's deaths.
For the past 25 days, medical and civil defense teams have reportedly been barred from accessing victims in northern Gaza. Civilians described executions of individuals attempting to retrieve food from their homes. “One victim lay dead beside a bag of flour he managed to secure before being shot,” a witness said.
Humanitarian conditions at displacement centers are dire, with limited food distributed primarily to children and the elderly. Adults often receive only a loaf of bread daily.
The rights group condemned the international community for its inaction, stating that it amounts to complicity and encourages Israel to escalate its crimes. Since October 2023, the Israeli genocidal war has claimed over 43,900 Palestinian lives, mostly women and children.
The Euro-Med Monitor urged immediate action, including a global arms embargo on Israel and accountability measures to address the Israeli war crimes. “The failure of international bodies to protect civilians has been disgraceful,” the organization said.
