The OIC issued a statement on Thursday strongly denouncing Israel's recent aggression against several Iranian sites, labeling the actions as a blatant infringement of Iran's territorial integrity and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The statement, reported by Iranian news outlets, follows an incident two weeks ago when Israeli warplanes, using airspace accessible through US military arrangements in Iraq, launched long-range missiles at military installations in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces in Iran.
The attack resulted in the deaths of four Iranian Army officers and one civilian, although Iran’s integrated air defense system reportedly intercepted and countered the assault.
The OIC further condemned the violation of Iraqi sovereignty, as Israel used Iraq's airspace to carry out the offensive against Iran.
The organization emphasized that Iran and other affected states retain the inherent right under international law and the UN Charter to protect their sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and citizens.
The OIC also underscored the broader issue of Israeli aggressions in the region, pointing to ongoing violence in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly Gaza and Lebanon, as well as what it described as destabilizing activities across West Asia.
The organization called for immediate and decisive intervention by the UN Security Council, asserting the Council’s responsibility in maintaining international peace and security.
In response, Iranian officials stated that Iran will not overlook the recent attack and intends to uphold its rights against this act of aggression.
