Iran Regrets EU Inaction Toward Israeli Crimes in West Asia

Islam Times - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi censured the European Union for its inaction on the Israeli regime's savagery and genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip who have been under relentless bombardment since October 2023.
In a Wednesday telephone conversation with his Finnish counterpart Elina Valtonen, the Iranian diplomat lamented that certain European countries have adopted a contradictory and dual approach regarding the Israeli crimes.
Araqchi said the root of the crisis in the region lies in the warmongering and genocide perpetrated by the Zionist regime.
“It’s regrettable that despite the heinous crimes and atrocities against the Palestinian people and aggression against Lebanon, no significant action has been taken by the EU to address the violations and crimes committed by Israel,” he added.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed over 43,000 people, mostly children and women, according to data from the health ministry in the besieged territory. More than 102,000 people have also been wounded, according to health officials.
The figures exclude tens of thousands of dead who are believed to be buried in the bombed-out ruins of homes, shops, shelters and other buildings.
The military campaign has turned much of the enclave of 2.3 million people into ruins, leaving most civilians homeless and at risk of famine.
The escalation against Lebanon, which began following the launch of the military onslaught on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, has witnessed the regime carrying out countless deadly attacks against the Lebanese territory.
More than 3,000 people have been killed and over 13,500 wounded in Lebanon in a year of Israeli military campaign, with most of the deaths occurring in the past months.
Heavy Israeli bombardment have forced many families to flee the densely populated neighbourhoods in Beirut.
Valtonen, for her part, expressed her concern over the humanitarian disasters in the region.
“I hope peace and stability return to the region as soon as possible,” she stated.
The minister emphasized that stopping violence requires dialogue and consultations among all parties involved.
