Islam Times - Fruitful Talks Held in Ministerial Visit to Pakistan: Iranian Spokesman

Islam Times - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held very useful and insightful discussions with Pakistani officials during a visit to Islamabad, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said.

In a post on his X account on Tuesday night, Esmaeil Baqaei hailed the “very useful, comprehensive and insightful discussions” that Araqchi has held in Pakistan.

He said the Iranian foreign minister had meetings with high-level political and military Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff General Sayed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah to discuss “bilateral relations between the two neighboring Muslim nations, and on the critical situation in the region”.

“We are pleased and proud that the two nations, as key members of Islamic Ummah with deeply rooted historical, civilizational, cultural and religious bonds of friendship, enjoy common/very close perspectives on existing opportunities and challenges we face in our vicinity and beyond,” Baqaei added.

“We both are serious and resolved to enhance our coordination and cooperation at all levels to identify and utilize opportunities for the good of our nations and to neutralize challenges together,” he said.

“Strengthening bilateral relations in economic, trade and energy sector as well as on border security and counter-terrorism is a must both sides are fully convinced about,” the spokesman said.

“Pakistan's long-standing principled position regarding the Palestinian cause and the right of Palestinian people to self-determination and freedom from yoke of occupation and apartheid, as well as its unequivocal condemnation of Israeli regime's recent aggression against Iran is highly appreciated,” he stated.

“The Ministers highlighted the upcoming OIC Summit in Riyadh as a very opportune moment and momentum for mobilizing effective Islamic and human solidarity to use collective capacities and capabilities for stopping Israeli genocide and aggressions and to rein in its dangerous warmongering behavior in the region,” the spokesman noted.
