"I like to believe you when you say life and human dignity should be protected. The issue is that your fellow Europeans unashamedly support genocide in Gaza and carnage in Lebanon," Araqchi wrote on X on Tuesday.
The Iranian diplomat pricked Borrell about "an EU measure" to end the killing of more than 50,000 Palestinians in the besieged enclave which has been under Israel's relentless bombardment since October 2023.
“How about ‘an EU measure’ to allow 1.5mln refugees in Lebanon to return to their homes?” he asked.
"How about an EU measure to support the families of those killed by Jamshid Sharmahd? If not, Europe only stands for hypocrisy," the minister added.
Sharmahd, the ringleader of the US-based Tondar (Thunder) terrorist group, who for years planned numerous terrorist operations against Iran, was executed on Monday.
The bloc’s top diplomat said on Tuesday the EU condemns the execution of Sharmahd and will consider taking measures in response,
“We condemn his killing in the strongest possible terms. The EU strongly opposes the death penalty at all times and in all circumstances. It is a violation of the right to life and the ultimate denial of human dignity,” Borrell wrote on X.
“The EU is considering measures in response," he added.
Sharmahd was convicted last year and handed the death sentence for committing "corruption on earth” by planning and orchestrating anti-Iran terrorist acts.
According to a statement by the Tehran Prosecutor-General's Office, at the behest of his masters in Western intelligence agencies, Sharmahd has for years designed numerous terrorist operations against Iran.
Sharmahd, who was responsible for the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of innocent Iranians, was ultimately sentenced by a competent court and received his due punishment, it added.
One of the biggest terrorist operations under his supervision was the blast in the Seyed Al-Shohada Hosseiniyeh in Shiraz in April 2008, where 14 people were martyred and more than 300 people were injured. Upon his arrest, Sharmahd admitted to providing explosives for the bombing attack at the religious site.
Sharmahd and his terror outfit were also implicated in a 2010 terrorist bombing at Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's mausoleum in Tehran, wounding several people.
He was further accused of working with US intelligence agencies and spying on Iran's sensitive ballistic missile program.
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry asserted that Sharmahd had orchestrated "armed operations and acts of sabotage" against Iran from his base in the US.
The ringleader was planning to carry out several high-profile and potentially deadly attacks across Iran before he was detained.
