Islam Times - The Kremlin on Monday condemned the killing of Hezbollah leader Sayed Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike and warned of an escalating risk of a broader Middle East conflict.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed deep concerns, stating that such actions have caused significant destabilization in the region.
"The Russian side condemns such actions; we believe they have led to a significant destabilization of the situation in the region," Peskov told reporters.
He added that the indiscriminate bombing of residential areas in Lebanon by Israel is contributing to a growing humanitarian crisis.
"The main issue is that these indiscriminate bombings of residential areas in Lebanon result in a large number of civilian casualties, which will inevitably lead to a humanitarian catastrophe like the one we are witnessing in Gaza," Peskov said.
Israel's intensifying assault on Hezbollah has deepened international concerns about a potential wider conflict in the Middle East.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov referred to the assassination of Nasrallah as a political assassination, further stressing Moscow's "deepest concern".
In a separate statement, the Russian foreign ministry urged Israel to cease its hostilities in Lebanon immediately.
