Hezbollah Fires Ballistic Missile at Tel Aviv for First Time

25 Sep 2024 10:37

Islam Times - Hezbollah launched a ballistic missile at Tel Aviv for the first time, triggering sirens across the city, the Lebanese group announced.

Hezbollah announced it launched a "Qader 1" ballistic missile targeting the Mossad headquarters in the suburbs of Tel Aviv early Wednesday. In response, Israel's Arrow anti-ballistic missile system was activated, sending settlers of Tel Aviv and other areas, including Netanya, to shelters.

Hezbollah’s statement read, “In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in backing its courageous and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people, the Islamic Resistance launched a 'Qader 1' ballistic missile on Wednesday, at 6:30 a.m., targeting the Mossad headquarters in the suburbs of Tel Aviv.”

The resistance group said the Mossad headquarters was involved in "the assassination of leaders and the detonation of pagers and radio devices."

Since early October, Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in deadly exchanges following Israel's genocidal offensive in Gaza.

Earlier, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for targeting the Israeli Ilaniya military base in northern occupied territories with Fadi-1 rockets, stating that the base is affiliated with the 146th Reserve Division of the Israeli military's Northern Command.

In another operation, Hezbollah said it attacked a military base near Safad, firing 90 rockets at the Dado base, which serves as the Northern Command headquarters.

The resistance group also reported using attack drones to strike the headquarters of Israel’s Special Naval Task Force at the Alit Base near Haifa, achieving "direct hits" on the positions of Israeli soldiers.

Hezbollah has vowed to continue its attacks as long as Israel maintains its military operations in Gaza, which, according to Palestinian sources, have killed over 41,467 people, mostly women and children.

Despite the israeli escalation, Hezbollah officials have stated they are not seeking full-scale war with the Zionist regime, but remain prepared for such an outcome.

Israel has previously waged two wars against Hezbollah in Lebanon, in 2000 and 2006, both resulting in Israel's withdrawal under strong resistance from the group.
