Islam Times - Iran Stands By Cuba against US Sanctions, FM Says

Islam Times - Condemning the US’ move to designate Cuba as a so-called state sponsor of terrorism, the Iranian foreign minister expressed Tehran’s support for Havana against the American sanctions.

“We are ready to cooperate with Cuba to expand bilateral ties in all fields,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said in a meeting with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Saturday.

Araqchi also slammed the US Congress’ unilateral and politically-charged move to include Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, saying it is in line with the hostile US policies.

“As one of the victims of the US sanctions, we fully understand the Cuban people’s situation and we support the country against the US embargoes,” he added.

Araqchi also touched on the latest developments in West Asia, stating that the Israeli regime commits crimes in Gaza and Lebanon out of desperation and due to its failure in Gaza.

For his part, the Cuban foreign minister welcomed the expansion of bilateral ties between Tehran and Havana in the economic, academic and scientific spheres.

Parrilla also said his country supports Iran against the hostile US policies.

The Cuban minister welcomed the holding of a joint economic commission meeting and stressed that economic cooperation between the two countries should continue.
